Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Junior - Atlanta
Just past noon on January 15, 1929, a son, Martin Luther King Jr. was born to the Reverend and Mrs. Martin Luther King, Sr., in an upstairs bedroom of 501 Auburn Avenue, in Atlanta, Georgia. It was in these surroundings of home, church, the Ebenezer Baptist Church, and in this neighborhood of Sweet Auburn, of Atlanta, Georgia that the young Martin Luther King experienced family, Christianity, love, and segregation in the days of "Jim Crow" laws. It is here the youngster, began to grow into the man who shaped much of US history in the 20th century, championing social justice, and human rights for all. It is here that he eventually returned as and experienced pastor to join his father on the pulpit of the church in which he grew up.
