Early morning workout, along the Schuylkill River
The Schuylkill River runs from the Appalachian Mountains at Tuscarora Springs, northwest of Philadelphia, and empties into the Delaware River in South Philadelphia. In Philadelphia, the Schuylkill runs through Fairmount Park in between the Kelly and King Drives where it is primarily used for sculling practices and races such as the world renown Dad Vail Regatta. The Schuylkill course, though it contains a bend and is therefore not eligible as an Olympic venue, is considered one of the premier rowing courses in the world. Philadelphia's famous Boat House Row lines the east side of the River near the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
