The Gullfoss Waterfall in the river Hvítá (White River) has its origin in the glacier lake Hvítávatn (White River Lake) at Lángjökull glacier about 40km north of Gullfoss. The spectacular waterfall plunges in two stages (11 m and 21 m) into a crevice for a total drop of 32 m (105 ft).
