It is connected to Philadelphia's two other Center-City railroad stations, Suburban, and Market East via underground tunnels. 30th Street Station is owned by Amtrak and primarily serves the Amtrak national passenger railroad. 30th Street Station also serves SEPTA's the regional rail network, New Jersery Transit trains, and is a stop for SEPTA's Market-Frankford line which alternates between being an elevated train and subway line, as well as all SEPTA's subway-surface lines which are trolleys which run underground while in Center-City.
The station, which opened in 1933, also houses many Amtrak corporate offices. The station was designed with ornate art deco decor by the architectural firm of Graham, Anderson, Probst and White for the Pennsylvania Railroad. The station is on the National Register of Historic Places.
