Galapagos: Mariela Islands, Elizabeth Bay, Isabela Island
This island was named in honor of Queen Isabella. With an area of 4,640 square kilometers (1,792 sq mi), it is the largest island of the Galápagos. Its highest point is Wolf Volcano with an altitude of 1,707 meters (5,600 ft). The island's seahorse shape is the product of the merging of six large volcanoes into a single landmass. Following the western coast of Isabela south from Urbina Bay until the shoreline bends sharply toward the lower arm of the island, you will find Elizabeth Bay, with the nearby Mariela Islands. At the bay and islands there are many sea turtles, flightless Galapagos Cormorants and penguins.
